Dear Friends,
A warm greeting
to our friends in Lancaster County of behalf
of the National Day of Prayer Task
Force in Colorado Springs! I consider it
a privilege to extend our heartfelt gratitude
for your participation in this year’s observance. In light
of the many challenges facing the American people and our leaders,
it’s imperative that we
persevere in our intercession for the United
States. Thank you for you personal commitment
to this important and God-ordained task.
The National Day of Prayer is a beloved tradition
that was established by an act of Congress
in 1952. Since then, millions of Americans
have gathered each year in order to beseech
the Lord’s guidance and blessing upon
our great land, thus punctuating the truth
that prayer is the hope for our nation. We
are facing threats from within our borders
and from enemies overseas, and immoral practices
and ideologies are prevailing in nearly every
segment of our culture. Clearly, there is an
urgent need for God’s people to seek
His protection and wisdom as we confront these
dangers. We’re greatly encouraged that
you are making it a priority in your schedule
to bring these concerns before God’s
throne.
National Day of Prayer events are being held
in some of the smallest towns and largest cities
across out land. But, they also extend beyond
our shores as chaplains and military personnel
around the world assemble to lift the needs
of our country before our Heavenly Father.
Never has there been such an outpouring of
prayer, and I’m confident God will honor
these acknowledgements of our reliance upon
Him.
Once again, many thanks to all of you in Lancaster
County who have dedicated your time and energy
to joining us in prayer and repentance on behalf
of our country. The National Day of Prayer
events in your area have ranked among the largest
in the nation, and we trust you’re aware
of our deep appreciation for your hard work.
May the Lord’s abundant grace and peace
rest upon you in the days ahead!
Sincerely,
Shirley Dobson
