Dear Friends,

Warm greetings to our friends in Lancaster County from the entire National Day of Prayer Task Force in Colorado Springs! It’s an honor to express our sincere gratitude for your participation in this year’s observance. Given the many challenges confronting our leaders and fellow citizens, it’s crucial that we remain on our knees on behalf of our beloved nation and her people. Heartfelt thanks for your own dedication to this vital calling.

The National Day of Prayer is a longstanding tradition first instituted in 1952 by an act of Congress. In these ensuing years, millions of people have assembled each year in order to seek the Almighty’s protection and blessing upon the United States. In doing so we have demonstrated our firm belief that prayer is the ultimate hope for our country. We are contending with threats from those both here at home and abroad who aim to do us harm, and immoral practices and unsound principles run rampant throughout the culture. With this in mind, there’s an especially urgent need for God’s people to ask for His guidance for the days ahead. It encourages us greatly to know that you have set aside the time to bring these concerns before the Lord.

Prayer events are being held in various venues from coast to coast, as well as on military bases far from our shores. Each year our observances bring together great numbers of Americans, and I trust our faithful God will honor our petitions as we humbly acknowledge our dependence upon Him.

Again, deepest thanks to all of you in Lancaster County who have invested so much time, energy and hard work into the cause of prayer. The National Day of Prayer gatherings throughout your region consistently rank among the largest in the country, and we are so thankful for your commitment to intercede on behalf of this great land. May the Lord continue to richly bless you in your service to Him!

Sincerely,text

Shirley Dobson
